I realized on Monday (the first day of school) as we were rushing out the door and trying to get pictures, that my camera didn't just need new batteries but is officially dead. SO, this will be a sad year with no pictures of the first day of school. Just call me Mother of the Year. Anyway, both the boys were super excited to go to school this year. I loved that our school let the kids meet their teachers a few days before school started to help them know what to expect. Their teachers seem to be wonderful and other mom/friends at the school tell me that my kids scored with great teachers so I feel pretty good about them academically this year. I know I won't be able to help as much in the classroom this year because of the new baby coming so it's nice to know that I won't need to really worry about what's going on in the classroom.
Ryan is LOVING being on the "big kids playground" and can finally play soccer and tether ball at recess. He thinks it's also cool to see Jake on the playground too. Ryan made me read the lunch calendar to him so he could decide which would be his first choice. I told him that I didn't have any cash for him to buy lunch so he went to his money box, counted all his quarters and figured out he has enough to buy 3 lunches. Normally I don't make my kids buy their own lunch at school, but he was just too excited. He settled on waiting a few days for Popcorn Chicken because Chili Cheese Dog and Spaghetti didn't sound too appetizing. He said they tasted just like chicken nuggets only BETTER. So cute.
Jacob was assigned the teacher that he really wanted which was wonderful because he was a little anxious throughout the summer about starting school for various reasons. It's interesting that he wanted that specific teacher because I've heard she gives the most homework which is NOT Jacob's favorite thing to do. Oh well, he'll be fine and will just have to get used to it :)
All in all, it's been a good week even through all the adjusting of getting the kids used to getting ready for school on time. I'm hoping by the end of the year we can have some mornings where I don't have to send my boys to school after a morning of me almost losing it trying to get them moving to get ready on time. I'm totally open to suggestions on how all you wonderful moms seem to get your kids ready for school without having to yell, follow them around to make sure they don't get distracted, or threaten every possible consequence under the sun. Please let me on your secrets!

you never told me where you live?? how fun vegas!!
fun get-a-way without the kids......... being prego thou not so romantic for me.....
Wow! Sounds like a blast. I'm so sad that my baby is starting pre-school, but I have a feeling that I'll get over it fast with only 1 kid 2 mornings a week. I don't have any sage advice for helping with school in the a.m., but I will tell you that since I always have to go to church alone ALMOST EVERY sunday, me and the girls take some time the night before and lay out their clothes/shoes, put breakfast out, pack the sunday bag, and get everything ready so all we have to do is go. Hope this helps. Let's talk soon!!

yay for back to school! that's so cute that ryan loves the 'big kid' playground-- such milestones, right? and how's jacob doing with the homework situation? awesome that he wanted that teacher! and i wish i had some tips on how to help kids get their act together, but i've only got one, and, well, i'm not so great in the organization/patience arena! hopefully sooner or later i'll get the hang of it!
Hey Kristen! Sharlene found me through me finding Briana's blog then I found you. Yay for back to school, right?? I have NO secrets for not yelling in the morning. If you figure it out, let me know!! Love~ Marianne
Your entries are so fun to read. The boys are so cute...and Ryan totally reminds me of Doug. (as young as I remember him...) anyway, you are a great mom and your kids are lucky to have you! Miss you!
