Jacob has just thoroughly enjoyed being in Cub Scouts. A couple weeks ago they needed to make a boat for the Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta. They were supposed to design their boat and paint it however they liked. Doug helped him shape it and showed him how to sand it. He wanted it to be a pirate ship so he painted it to look like that, added a Jolly Roger flag, and glued on one of his pirate guys in the front. It turned out cute. He was so excited for that night to arrive and unfortunately the scout people couldn't find where the other ward put the raingutters for the races so they just judged the boats on appearance and they're racing them in a couple of weeks. They called up the 3 boys that received the most votes and Jake was one of them. You could see how excited he was. The scout leader then announced Jake's name as the 1st place winner and I wish I had a videotape of his reaction. It was seriously the cutest thing in the world. He was genuinely shocked that he won and he sported the HUGEST smile on his face. He told me that night when we got home that his dream came true and that his next dream is to come in 1st place during the races. So cute! (sorry about the photo quality but it was taken on Doug's phone)
Another side note story about Jacob: 2 weeks ago I gave him a journal so he could start writing down some of his thoughts and feelings about whatever he wanted. He decided a couple days later to write down his testimony of the gospel in it. I read it and it was super sweet. The next day he asked when Fast Sunday was because he wanted to bear his testimony and read what he wrote. He said he gets too scared to stand up there so he thought he wouldn't be as scared if he just read it instead. I told him this morning it was Fast Sunday and he was so excited. He brought his journal to church and sat at the end of our row so he could get right up when it was the appropriate time to bear testimonies. He got a little nervous after each person was done to go up but after a few minutes, he jetted up there and sat down to wait his turn. He stood right up when the person talking was finished and read his testimony so proudly and came and sat down again. I couldn't hold back the tears in my eyes when I saw my little boy up there looking so handsome in his suit and growing up before my eyes. It was touching to me that he decided to do that totally on his own even though he was nervous and scared. It's moments like these that I feel so grateful to be a mother and have hope that even in this crazy world around us, we can still teach our children correct principles and watch them choose on their own to follow them. I hope Jacob and my other children continue to make good choices throughout their lives.
A little pregnancy update, my due date is October 5th but my doctor said she would induce me the week before because of the crazy toll this baby is putting on my body. It will probably be Friday the 26th or Monday the 29th of September depending on if the hospital has openings for an induction. I feel better knowing that their is a true end in sight! Yeah!

Way to go Jacob! I can totally see why you won first place! Your boat is awesome! (props to Doogie too!)
Love the testimony story... I remember Raegan begging to go up for weeks (but I gave in and went up with her) ... what they say truly comes from their sweet, little hearts!
That is awesome about Jacob. Wish we could have been there for his testimony. And I can't believe you are having a baby in a few weeks!!!!
Toll on your body - what are you talking about, you are not big at all! I enjoyed Jacobs testimony, thought he was so handsome and so sweet - a very good boy!
