I can't believe I forgot to post about the second half of our trip to Washington this past summer! Let me just start by saying that I think I have the best in-laws in the world. Honestly. I've heard some horror stories from some of my friends about their in-laws and thankfully it's been pretty smooth sailing for me these last 13 years. We just love to go and visit their house in Quincy and play on the farm These pictures truly capture how much fun we had! We played constantly on the 4-wheeler and it was exciting this summer because the boys were old enough to learn how to drive it themselves!
Papa took us to some fun spots we haven't visited before and the kids loved going to the place where the old highway that used to go over the Columbia River before they made it so big like it is today.
Papa was showing the kids how where we were standing used to be a road and a town but now the river water comes right up to it. He also taught them how to skip rocks :)
We also went to a museum above the Columbia River where they have a lot of cool petrified trees and other things from that area from centuries ago. So interesting.
Doug told the kids how he used to play in the ditch all the time as a kid and teenager (we used to tell them there were alligators in the ditch so they would stay away but felt they were old enough now to learn the truth!). They loved going out to the ditch to play in the water.
Papa just bought a new lawn mower and Doug was very excited to try it out. He wishes we had some property so he could mow the lawn. Seriously.
Mark and Gretchen were storing their motorcycles up there and Riley had a chance to ride for her first time!
More ditch playin
No matter where we go, Buzz is always close by.
The kids just love how Granny tends to their every need while we are visiting. Their favorite part is the yummy breakfasts she fixes for us everyday, especially the french toast.
I had my birthday while we were up there (and my nephew Mitchell was visiting too) so we got to celebrate together.
Josh was showing off his grapes smile.
We love you, Papa and Granny!
