What's Riley been up to?

This school year for Riley has been filled with many school programs (a couple programs too many in my opinion!  How many times can you sit through 45 minutes of singing for every single holiday season!?)  She really wanted to be Tinkerbell for Halloween so being the crafty mom that I am (NOT!) I decided to make one for her so I wouldn't have to spend 20 bucks on one.  She turned out pretty cute, I think and I'm glad you can't look to closely at all my novice sewing mistakes!

She loves bringing home her school projects and taking pictures with them.  (I don't keep all their art through the years so we take pictures and then can say good-bye to it without any tears)

She turned 6 in January and we had a fun birthday party for her at Painted Earth which is a place where you can paint ceramics and they'll bake them and glaze them for you.  We also had a family party at my mom's house where she received some art supplies, money, clothes, and a doll house!  On her actual birthday she chose to go to Richie's Diner for dinner because she loves to be sung to.  She wore her birthday crown from school and had a delicious ice cream sundae.

She loves Kindergarten and is progressing so well at school.  She sometimes struggles with always wanting to be in charge and mother all the children but she is doing much better at this point in the year.  I'm hoping we can channel that quality in a positive way for her because I think it's important to be able to be a leader and not be intimidated by her peers.  She's definitely not intimidated of her big brothers' friends and will let them have it any time!  Good for her, right?

Riley is growing up to be a beautiful, intelligent, funny young girl.  She loves to be the center of attention and always wants to do a solo for her song choice during family home evening.  I need a video of that because it's hilarious to watch her sing in her "serious" voice with a crazy vibrato going on.  Love her!  For being the only girl in the family she sure holds her own and I can't imagine our family without her and all her hugs and snuggles every day.  Here's to you, Riley the Smiley!

Oh yes, I am going to have to demand a video of her FHE solos! That is rad.
