A Picture Tells A Thousand Words

This picture tells a lot of what's been happening here lately.  My sweet little Joshy got his 1st haircut.  Doesn't he look so cute?  I didn't have the camera the day I took him but I had my Flip so I'm going to try and post the video of that when I get them downloaded.

Doug finally went and got his glasses!  It only took him trying on our friend's 10 year old daughter's glasses while watching the Masters to realize what he's been missing all this time.  He now enjoys sitting on the couch and actually being able to see the score and no more of me reading the subtitles to everything!  Yay!
You may also notice Doug has a few bandages on his left hand.  Monday, April 12th Doug came in from the garage with an old t-shirt wrapped around his left hand and calmly said with a look of fear, "I've cut my hand on the table saw and you need to take me to the hospital right now."  It was 9:00 at night, I had just gotten out of the shower, and getting comfy to watch DWTS and was a little taken back.  He then said, "Right. Now." and went back into the garage.  I proceeded to do the tinkle dance in circles because I assumed he was going to look for his fingers and I had to gather my stuff to leave.

We go out into the garage and I can see blood everywhere and feel a little bit of sickness rise up in me.  We get in the car and realize I have no idea where to go.  Since we've lived here we've never been to an ER and didn't know what to do.  He calls a friend in our ward, Tom, who is an ER doctor and he thankfully picked up his phone.  He was at work (thank goodness!) and told us how to get to his hospital.  As we're leaving I then realize I have children at home sleeping!  I call a good friend, Bobette who I know can leave and get here quickly and she was a huge lifesaver for me that night.

It was an interesting drive to the hospital.  Doug is very calm but I can see he is trying to not scare me.  He tells me to run a couple red lights and it wasn't until we got to the hospital that I finally asked him if his fingers were still attached (because I wasn't ready for the answer earlier).  He tells me that he thinks they are and proceeds to tell me it will all be ok and to not worry.
Tom met us in triage and after we checked in he took us right back into a bed.  Doug was going into shock and I was so glad when our home teacher and good friend Scott came to the hospital to be there with us.  Tom and Scott gave Doug a beautiful priesthood blessing that immediately calmed me down and brought peace.

To make this long story short, Doug needed to have surgery immediately to repair his 3 fingers.  His injuries included a severed tendon in his ring finger, destroyed bone and joint in his pointer finger, and major tissue damage in his middle finger. We got home about 5 o'clock the next morning and Bobette had thoroughly cleaned and "refreshed" my house! It looked so nice and I'm so grateful to her.

Doug has done really well in his recovery and his fingers are actually looking really good!  He has a lot of pictures and videos that he's proud to share so just ask him if you'd like to take a peek.
We are so grateful for such good friends and ward members who really helped us during that crazy time.  Doug and I realized even more how blessed we are.

ummmmm OUCH!!!!!!! seriously his 3 fingers in their little contraption thingy looks PAINFUL!!!!

i love your "getting ready to get comfy with DWTS"--that was hilarious--

when cars kept coming in and out of our drive way the day jon broke his neck--our neighbors were just SURE he had died! so now everytime we have a bunch of cars in and out our driveway they all freak out all over again--

Holy Cow!!!! I would have freaked out!! (and I even have training for that sort of thing :) But, yeah, Chris would have tried to be calm too and not scare me more. Like the time he was rear ended at work and told me on the phone that he was in "a small fender bender." NOT! The whole back of the car was crushed into the front....the guy was going 60 and was too drunk to even hit the brakes (while driving a Hummer!)!!

Good to know he's doing ok, though. and didn't have to lose any fingers.
