Meet the newest member of our family, Oprah. A few months ago I was walking into the grocery store and there was a guy there giving away kittens. Ryan had been BEGGING for a pet and we sure weren't going to do the dog route again so we were stumped on what to get. Ryan is my son who searches for frogs, snails, grasshoppers, you name it, to keep as pets. I decided in the store that if one was still there that I'd take it home. All the kids were super excited but unfortunately the cat was terrified. All she wanted to do was hide and Ryan was pretty devastated for a few days. I didn't know how long she would stick around with the coyotes behind our house but she seems to have taken a liking to us and sticks pretty close to the house. Ryan has been totally responsible for her and takes such great care of her. As for all you Oprah fans out there, we are not being disrespectful. When we were discussing names I thought they'd want something cool like Darth Vader or Smokey because she's a black cat. They heard me tell Doug we should just name her Oprah and the kids said that's what they wanted to call her. So, Oprah the cat is here to stay (outside of course). Doug and the kids built a house for her that she hasn't really used much but once winter comes I bet she will. Anyway, we hope she stays safe from the wildlife out there because she's family now.

Meet Oprah

Whoops. Can you delete that one, Kristen? I did not mean to enter my email, I'm worried I might've just invited a bunch of spam emails.
Here's my replacement comment:
Congratulations on the new addition!
:P
Your a good mother! Be so careful at night make sure you bring her inside or in the garage, we have had a few cats be eaten by coyotes since we have lived here - and it doesnt make the kids too happy.
My kids would try to set Oprah up on a kitty date with Quincy, but we know Quincy would just try to eat her. Mean cat! Glad you picked a nice loveable one!
forget the coyotes! Oprah should be more terrified of the old lady trying to steal the cats at the grocery store that day.
Such a cute kitty. Carollyn mentioned that you had a cat but I didn't believe her..I thought "Kristen doesn't do the animal thing...you must be imagining things."
You finally posted about Oprah (or Opera as Beau calls her.) And it is nice to see a picture, because whenever we are there, she isn't.

Between Ryan's talking part and you and Jake singing, your family was such a hit today. Ryan cracked us up! And Jake did so good. The 2 songs during RS were wonderful. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
