Poor Oprah

As some of you may know, Oprah our cat had 3 kittens about a month ago. We figured one day that she must have had her babies because she was walking a lot quicker and she would come back into the yard with her belly wet from nursing her babies. It took us a little while to find where she had them but the boys brought them back over from the neighbor's house and we kept them in Oprah's house so she could feed them and keep them protected. It was hard keeping the kids away from them because it was so exciting to see something so new and foreign to them. Well, to make a long story short, Oprah disappeared last Wednesday and since then, I've had the lovely job of feeding the kittens with a dropper a few times a day and keeping them cleaned up. I've got them trained to lap up their milk now and they can eat wet cat food. We're making progress! They are all walking really well except for the one that has 3 legs. We think it was born with a deformed foot and Oprah chewed it off because when we got the kittens over here there was some bone exposed with blood around it. Nice. Anyway, they are growing up so fast and getting cuter everyday. The kids take them out of their house to give them "exercise" and cuddles. Today I've made a little protective playground for them so they can come in and out of their house and learn to do their "business" in a box of dirt (Doug won't let me buy cat litter) so I don't need to clean them up everyday from walking in their own mess, if you know what I mean. Well, we definitely are NOT keeping 3 cats so if any of you out there are interested in adopting an adorable little kitten from us they will be ready to leave in a week or so. Seriously, I can't keep all these animals when I have 3 of my own to watch over this summer :)
