A Memorial weekend to remember

What did you do this Memorial Weekend? Saturday was a day full of yard work and fun in the pool. We went over to my aunt and uncle's house for a pool party and the kids had so much fun. Riley was in the pool longer than ever before. Usually she'll get in for a minute and then walk around the rest of the time. This time she played the whole time. She did fall down a few times and got scared a little bit being under water, but Doug was right there each time to comfort her. I forgot to get a picture of her looking so cute in her girly swimsuit! Next time.

Sunday was really nice because I was able to interpret for the deaf couple in our ward after a few weeks of being out of commission because of my broken finger. (Still huge and black and blue and totally painful, by the way) It hurt a little bit when I would have to do signs that would touch my broken knuckle but I was amazed how fast it came back to me. I said a lot of prayers before church! They worked!

Sunday afternoon Doug got a wild idea to put up our tent in the backyard to spend the night in with the boys. I can't tell you how excited they were. We put Riley to bed and told the boys we'd pop some popcorn and watch a movie and then they could go to sleep in the tent. Doug wanted to make sure it'd be a little later so hopefully they would go to sleep faster. Ryan decided to watch one of their favorite shows on Discovery channel (their channel of choice these days) called "Man vs. Wild" which is a pretty cool show AND educational! No guilt letting them watch that for an hour! They went to bed and slept pretty well. Doug said it wasn't too cold and the boys had a blast. Maybe he started a new Memorial Weekend tradition?!

Today I woke up to Ryan telling me that Dad said to hurry and get up because we're going to go to "Ipod". I asked him, "You men IHOP?" He said, "Whatever, mom. Hurry and get up." We had a wonderful breakfast and then did some more work around the yard. We met up with some friends for lunch at Rosa's in Old Town which was a lot of fun. We closed off the day back at my aunt and uncle's house to swim.

It really was a fun and work filled weekend. We had great family time together that we really needed. I hope you all had a great weekend too.
