We had a fun week and a fun Father's Day today. This was Jacob's last week of school and so it was filled with Kindergarten graduation, parties, and lots of fun. We went swimming a few times this week since it's been in the 90's here most of the week. Friday afternoon and night we went to the beach with my aunt and uncle and other families from our ward. We had a great time. We didn't get there in time to grab a fire pit, but it didn't matter. We sent the men up to the local taco shop to pick up our dinner. Way better than hot dogs, although the kids were disappointed we didn't get to roast marshmallows.
Riley had her first experience at the beach and LOVED it. She didn't seem to care that she was literally covered head to toe with sand and was eating it right along with her food. She liked the water ok, but her favorite part was going down with Doug to look for sand crabs and play with them in the buckets.
I've never the seen the boys enjoy the beach this much. They played with the other kids the ENTIRE time. The only time they stopped was to eat a quick snack and they were off again. Ryan is a lot more daring this year with the water. He used to be very scared of the ocean but on Friday he ventured in no problem. The beach was perfect for kids because it was really flat and the waves broke way far out. Well, they all 3 crashed right when they got in the car. Good times.
Saturday Doug spent all day fixing our fence that the dog kept chewing holes in to escape. Bandit ran away pretty much every day this week. He usually wandered back around the next day and we'd get him back. Well, he still ran away yesterday even with every precaution we could possibly take. It's now Sunday night and he's still not back. I'm sure he's found a great home or else we would've seen him around. If the shelter has him, then maybe they can try and keep him to stay put. The kids don't seem to care because they've gotten used to him leaving. Ryan just says that if he doesn't want to live here he should just stay away. My sentiment exactly.
Anyway, today was a great Father's Day. I've posted pictures of Doug's presents that were so cute. We made a yummy breakfast and the kids picked some roses out front to look nice on the table while he ate. Jacob had a funny thought while we were eating. He said, "I think Sunday is coming up." I told him, "yes, Jake. Today is Sunday." He said, "NO! Sonday, for me and Ryan." How clever! Anyway, hope you all had a Father's Day. We're leaving on Wednesday for Utah because Doug's family is getting together for a family reunion We'll make sure and put lots of pictures up next week. We'll be home Sunday night.
